Athiest At Colgate University?

can you be athiest and attend colgate? The university was originally a baptist chuch. I appologize if this seems bigoted; it’s just been the main thing that’s kept me from considering the school

Whoever said it would be awkward is wrong.
Colgate is full of educated people, thus accepting, and you wouldn’t get made fun of or think you’re weird or anything. While still maintaining a Christian affiliation, Colgate is more of a liberal institution than conservative, as colleges tend to be. I went from a small town public school filled with bible thumpers and maybe one or two atheists out of 2,000 people, then transferred to a private school where probably 40-50% of the students were atheist or agnostic, and probably 25% Jewish.
You will be accepted as a person at Colgate and don’t let your fear deter you from applying. Email one of the admissions officers to see if you could get the contact information for an atheist group on campus (i’m not sure if their is one, but you could ask how atheists are treated on campus or something). Regardless, like I said before, you will be accepted for your atheism at Colgate. Good luck in the application process!

If they don’t accept you because you’re atheist, you can sue them.
Plus, no one will know unless you tell them.
Remember- religious intolerence is something atheists deal with. But don’t be afraid to show your proud.

No offence but before you fill in that college application form, learn how to spell atheist.
To answer, plenty of atheists attend university or colleges with religious traditions. If in doubt, contact them.

You can, it would be awkward but legally if they deny you for that its against the law.

    It’s no longer that way.
I wouldn’t be an atheist at Baylor, however.
