Does Pulling Baby Teeth Actually Make Permanent Teeth Grow Faster?
I am 15 and i still have two baby teeth, but when i went to the orthodontist they showed me an x-ray of my mouth and my permanent teeth were still really far away but they want to pull the baby teeth anyway. It seems kind of pointless spend all taht money if it doesn’t really do anything. I don’t really care about the whole pulling teeth part, i just want to know if it will actually speed up the process.

no pulling baby teeth does not make other ones grow quicker.

i guess the orthodontist knows best, after all it is their job. i dont know if it does make them grow faster but two different things i have come across are
1) a toddler who at 3 still didnt have any teeth had their gums split to bring the teeth out sooner. i know some dentists wont do this as they say the longer the tooth is in the gum the healthier it is, personally im inclined to agree with them but this mum was worried as her son was still eating fairly mushy food
2) my nephew fiddled and pulled baby teeth out that werent necassary, big teeth then came down at odd angles and now he has to have an operation to have 7 teeth removed (including 4 big teeth) because there wasnt room in his mouth 2 of the teeth actually came through the roof of his mouth and he has to have them cut out.
however as all your other teeth apart from those 2 are there then im sure the orthodontist has evaluated that and thinks that this course of action is best for you. have faith! good luck x

going through this right now with my daughter. they want to pull the baby teeth out so the adult teeth have room to grow in the right way. if you don’t get the baby teeth out, then the adult teeth have no where to go and will either go rotten or come out somewhere else. example, one of my daughter’s adult teeth is coming in sideways towards her tongue and well under her existing teeth. she got three baby teeth pulled just this morning. get them out so you don’t have problems to deal with later. good luck

well if you need to get braces I would have them pulled. But other wise I see no point in having this done.

Don’t get it done. Dentists are always trying to tweak and adjust things.
