Ok So If Listerine Kills 99% Germs Can’t I Just Gargle Listerine And Get Rid Of A Throat Infection?

From 1921 until the mid-1970s Listerine was also marketed as a preventive and remedy for colds and sore throats. In 1976, the Federal Trade Commission ruled that these claims were misleading, and that Listerine had “no efficacy” at either preventing or alleviating the symptoms of sore throats and colds. Warner-Lambert was ordered to stop making the claims, and to include in the next $10.2 million dollars’ of Listerine ads a specific mention that “contrary to prior advertising, Listerine will not help prevent colds or sore throats or lessen their severity.”
Hope this helps.

I think that would burn!! OUCH! You can try eating yogurt. That would help somewhat, but you should really call a doctor and get some antibiotics, if you havent already.

Nope, sorry. The infection is not just in your throat. It is floating around in your blood stream. Then, it resurfaces in the throat area.

no germs and bacteria are completely differen things. medication is the only thing that can get rid of a throat infection. unless it is viral .

It won’t get rid of the infection totally, but it will help.

No listerine won’t go down your throat far enough, and its usefulness in killing bacteria is highly overated. You would do just as well gargling with salt water (1 tsp in one cup warm water) gargle don’t swallow.

The bacteria and germs from the throat infection are already in your cells. The listerine mouthwash has no chance. There stuff called medicine!

As far as I know, you need antibiotics to get rid of that.

No ! Germs are what can cause an infection. You need antibiotics to get rid of an infection. Once the infection is gone, and you use listerine on a daily bases, you may LOWER the risk of an infection, but that also depends on how you got the infection first, and what type of infection it is.

Yes it does help. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection . Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
