Why Do Asians Women Want To Make Their Faces White And Even Wear Whitening Products On Their Face?

I think it looks very stupid because you can really notice how only the face is whitened and the rest of the body is not. Why do they do that?

    Um…because asian women are from a hierarchical culture where they are repressed, objectified. They consequently have low self esteem and want to be like the race that holds the most power in society?
    Or they want to be like supermodels who are mostly white?
    If someone changes their appearance, it’s because they are ashamed of what’s currently there. Pretty simple if you ask me.

    There was some thing I heard where Paler or whiter skin meant that you were richer (this is because royal people spent most of their times indoors than outdoors, whereas people who worked outside and were slaves or poor people spent their time outside were more tan) so it’s considered more beautiful and royal to have white skin. I’m not sure if this is any link to asian women making their face white but it’s a thought.

    because ever since ancient times in asia, white skin has been considered beautiful because it is associated with being pure. whitening products dont bleach your skin, they even out your skintone. if a black woman used whitening products she wouldnt become white, her skintone would just be evened out. for some women, it means that their skin lightens.
    i would be very careful when you say you think it looks stupid. as a female of asian descent, i think its equally ’stupid’ to expose yourself to sunlight and increase your chances of skin cancer just to get a tan. at least whitening doesnt affect your health in any way.

    I asked my A-yi (my chinese house helper, I live in China) why she likes whiter skin. She said that the poor and farmers have tanned skin (since they’re always out working in the fields) and that the whiter the skin, the more educated the person looks (the educated stay inside to study). And after observing for a bit, I agree. =)
